WOW - you usually can't find these . . . let alone together. They are from my collection of over 150 perfume bottles that I am selling now - hopefully they will have a chance to continue on their journey. They are not for use - for a vanity or collector.
These are extremely RARE, Satin, Camphor glass Golliwogg Perfume Bottles sold by VIGNY Perfumeries of Paris, France in the post World War I years.
The satin camphor glass Golliwogg perfume was the very FIRST version of the "Le Golliwogg" perfume to be sold. The bottle design and name are based on a character created by Englishwoman, Florence K. Upton around the turn of the century. The bottle, itself, was made by Verreries Brosse. 1919
The LARGE one is approximately:
7" Tall (including hair) and 4" Across - he has the original sticker that states:
Le Golliwogg, Vigny, Paris France” and features a lithograph of the Golli’s 2 black hands, positioned in such a way as to suggest that he his holding onto his big round belly!
He has a bald spot on the top/side of his head and you cannot remove the stopper. He also has some perfume that has laid in the bottle for years. NOTE: I just realized that he was packed lying down. When I stood him up for awhile the perfume coats the entire bottle. (see last two pics).. The facial painting/enameling remain in tact. Glass collar is painted white and block lollipops and his feet are accented in black as well.
The SMALLER one is approximately:
4" Tall and 2" Across.
He has no sticker, is also empty - but stopper can be removed and he has all of his hair except along the hair line in the back where the black hair would start. Facial painting in tact and the same accents as the larger bottle.
