One used Ibanez S540QS electric guitar in very good-excellent condition. Made in Japan in 1997.
""QS" stands for "quilted sapele" top on a mahogany body. Rosewood fingerboard on a maple neck.
Almost excellent condition, but there are a few dents, so it's get an official "very good" rating instead.
I've owned this guitar for many years and changed the pickups to DiMarzio Dual Sound and PAF Pro humbuckers with the middle pickup eliminated and a dummy cover put in its place. The Dual Sound bridge humbucker is an older version of the 4 conductor Super Distortion pickup. Humbuckers weren't always 4 conductor and splittable and this was an early iteration of that technology.
The pickups were wired with a 5-way super switch, which allows for unusual configurations. The switch is wired as follows:
Position 1: full bridge pickup
Position 2: bridge pickup split
Position 3: inner coils only on both pickups
Position 4: neck pickup out of phase
Position 5: full neck pickup
In my opinion, the above wiring configuration is way more useful and fun to play with than a traditional 5-way setup that includes the middle pickup, where positions 2, 3, and 4 are not as desirable of a tone, in my opinion.
The tuning pegs were also changed to Gotohs with ivory/white pegs, that came from an Ibanez Prestige, I believe.
Currently setup in E flat standard with DR 9-46 strings, but I can restring and tune this any way you'd like, with whatever string gauge you'd prefer. I'll also clean the fretboard before restringing it and set it up as I always do. Read our feedback to confirm that guitars always arrive ready to shred.
An Ibanez fitted case in excellent condition will be included with the asking price only. We have another Japanese S that will get the case, if it sells for its asking price first.
