This is a gorgeous tablecloth with 12 matching napkins that is well known within military circles. Over the years, service members have given this treasured gift to the special people in their lives to use on special occasions and build happy memories. You don't have to be in the military to enjoy, this tablecloth is a standout in any home.
This Vintage Army Navy Filet Lace and Embroidered Linen Tablecloth has been barely used. It looks like it was just purchased. The elegant cloth is Rectangular and measures 102" by 68". It has 12 matching and delicate looking embroidered napkins.
This beautiful vintage tablecloth is made with blocks of crisp, fine linen and filet lace--edged with a
2 1/4" scalloped flowered filet lace. The color is ecru or light beige. The identifying pattern is alternating lace and linen blocks. It has 54 blocks, each one measuring 10 1/4" square.
Tradition has it that Army Navy tablecloths date back to the Civil War when officers took handmade tea cloths into battle, so that they could enjoy their proper afternoon tea. These tablecloths were highly sought-after when military officers and their wives formally entertained. They have an elegant look and quality which far surpasses any table linens available today.
This tablecloth is in excellent condition and has been very lightly used in a smoke-free and pet-free home. There are two tiny loose stitches in one lace block that are barely noticeable. There is also a very small mend on one of the lace squares that is about the size of a pencil point and has been magnified (in the next to the last picture) for your review. Regardless, the cloth looks brand new. The tablecloth is washed, ironed and ready for your finest occasion.
