This listing is for an antique/vintage solid mahogany bench made by the highly regarded Biggs Furniture Company of Richmond, Virginia. This is the original matching vanity stool/bench for a Biggs dressing table (Hepplewhite or Federal style with delicate banded inlay around the top edge), but it works perfectly as a piano bench, bedroom bench, entryway seat, or anywhere you need an elegant, sturdy piece with classic lines.
• Made by Biggs of Richmond (one of the finest 20th-century American reproduction makers)
• Solid mahogany with lovely satinwood or light-wood string inlay
• Very sturdy frame – no wobbles, joints are tight
• Legs and stretchers in great structural shape
• Original finish shows honest age and a few light scratches/scuffs, but nothing serious (see photos)
• Seat padding is still thick and supportive; fabric is tired, torn, and ready to be reupholstered in whatever color/style you prefer – an easy and relatively inexpensive update that will make this piece stunning again.
