Arthur Tofani, owned a millwork shop on 8th Street near Dickinson Street in South Philadelphia, starting about 1913
He produced doors and windows and staircases for the neighborhood which became his canvas & catalog
Many of his doors and windows adorn the row homes to this day of this area
He died around 1937 and his wife took over the business and ran it for many years, well into the 50s and 60s
The family rebuilt & resumed production after a large fire destroyed the factory in 1937 continuing the production of doors and windows. Most of their products were made in the mid century modern matter as well as atomic age design used for many of their products
His family millwork items are sought out by preservationists
Homeowners and Collectors to this day
These windows, as much as the doors, that they made, are very difficult to find available anywhere since most people are apt to replace just the door, and not the windows from the home’s entryway
