Office organizer, researcher-writer-editor internship available (Upper Darby, Drexel Hill, Rt. 1 & 3)

SUMMARY:
Many young writers cannot find jobs because they don’t have work experience. This internship—available for a bright, experienced, and reliable office organizer, researcher, writer, and editor with a fine sense of language and good communication skills—could help the right person to move forward. Work includes organizing papers, developing and fine-tuning educational documents, articles, and plays. Ideal position for an ambitious person who wants to learn and work with a tenured professor, playwright, and editor.

REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate is interested in education, theatre, and a wide range of historical subjects, and has a proven record of good writing and editing skills (from developing powerful dialogues to editing humorous pieces), enjoys keeping things organized, and is liked by his or her colleagues as an honest, flexible, and supportive team player. Ideal for a talented and ambitious young Philadelphia area writer, editor, personal assistant, and office organizer who wants to move forward. English major welcome (B.A. or M.A. ideal).

Highly organized and detail-oriented person must possess proven time management, communication, writing, organizational, and analytical skills. Solid experience with Windows, MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, required. Ability to multitask, often under deadline pressures, and willingness to learn and grow professionally, are essential.

No beginners, cell phone addicts, smokers, or people with an attitude, please.

BENEFITS:
This internship opportunity will provide a candidate with a wide range of skills as a researcher, writer, editor, and communicator. The successful candidate will be working in an environment that recognizes creativity and provides ample opportunities to contribute toward the intern’s professional future. The successful candidate will have access to numerous networking contacts and will receive regular mentoring and coaching and the opportunity to learn German, if desired.

If interested, the research, writing and editing intern may want to arrange academic credit for work performed, contingent upon approval by the intern’s college or university. Part-time position, flexible schedule: some mornings and/or weekends.

This is an unpaid internship, but a great resume builder and an opportunity to receive a solid and detailed letter of recommendation at the end of the internship. Pleasant, healthy environment, easily accessible to public transportation (SEPTA). Travel expenses will be reimbursed. Free lunch, tea, and fruit.

HOW TO APPLY:
This position is open to an intern in the greater Philadelphia area. Submit a detailed cover letter, including your contact information, and the best time to reach you. Please attach your resume plus one academic and one creative sample of your writing in Word format.
