Over 20 years ago, going to high school, for me, was like marching off to war every day. Not because of any difficulty with the curriculum, but because I was such a social outcast that I was borderline suicidal. After getting through that, I figured I'd really kill myself if I entered the college environment and still had to deal with being shunned by my "peers" (especially the girls). It also didn't help that my highly-rated suburban high school's staff gave me no help at all in a transitional capacity. I firmly believe that some students simply get written off as if it were a given that they would not be furthering their education. I was honestly unaware that I had any options and also unaware that there were guidance counselors, believe it or not.

Now, all these years later, I am painfully aware of the fact that if you want to have a "good life", you need a degree or two. The only way to make a decent living with just a high school diploma is to be lucky enough to know someone who can hook you up with a trade apprenticeship. Or be lucky enough to get a city or government job, which is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack (I tried, numerous times). Another dilemma is choosing a career. If you're like me, and your only interests are in areas where you'll be struggling to make a buck, you're screwed. I can't see myself doing something I have absolutely no interest in for a lifetime just to be in a lucrative field. I'd still be almost as miserable as I am now. As an artist, my only likely career path would be teaching, but people generally hate me and therefore I have no rapport with most of them. So, that's not an option. Sorry, but healthcare doesn't interest me, either. The same with I.T. What else is there?

My advice to you is to stay in school for as long as you possibly can, and make sure you're doing something you love. I can only do what I love on my days off from my shitty job, and not get paid for it. Don't make the mistake I made all those years ago, and don't let people bring you down like I did. If I could only go back in time and know then what I know now, things would have turned out a LOT differently. Back in my parents' day, one could start a business with hardly any money (they did), and build it up without any degree. I was stupid enough to think that I could do the same.

Good luck. Remember, explore all your options. Like I should have.

The "pictures" to which you referred from my earlier post, which you think reflect some kind of holocaust on the Blacks, ...of those pictures three of them show
a legal punishment from a government, imposed by a jury. One is an electrocution in the US. Another, a garrotting in Cuba, and the other a whipping in Delaware.
The fourth, a hanging, I can not say, but probably is the product of mob justice. In those three pictures, the subject being punished violated the law. Because the black subject chose to misbehave, murder, or violate the law in some way, they were punished in accordance with the law.

You missed the whole point of my post. What I was trying to say is that a college degree in the right field is completely necessary. I used the MD as an example. Obviously your husband has a college degree in the health industry, which is worth something, which is the point that I was defending.

When I said "hanging around a hospital" won't qualify you, I meant people without the proper degrees. If your husband is an RN, he is most certainly qualified to do the job he is doing. If he was a hospital volunteer for 5 years, I would think not. It seems like you are overly sensitive about the fact that your husband is not a doctor, and overly defensive because you feel like arguing with somebody. Maybe you shouldn't be so resentful and try to recognize when people are defending you.

This is for both of you tormented and poed. How about this.....a college degree DOES mean something if it is in a field that you enjoy, that you are good at and that you are planning to pursue. A college degree means nothing if after you graduate you get a job in something completely different to what you went to school for. For example, my friend got a degree in Sociology and now she sells cell phones for a living. What the point of going to school for that is, I'm not sure. If you want to pursue a career in the medical industry, well then you'd better go to medical school and years of hanging around a hospital is probably not going to replace that M.D.

1.The forcast of debt ( as high as 12 trillion dollars) is not pulled out of thin air, but has been projected by several
groups ( including non-partisan economists).

2. Bringing up Bush to blame. Bush was guilty of letting spending go unchecked. He not only caved to Dems demands on
programs we can't afford, but he let Wall Street talk him into the TARP deal in the last 6 months of his adm.
But you fail to see the "proportions" If Bush's failure is real, the solution, is to NOT COMPOUND Bush's mistake by tripling the error. We
don't go to a burning house, and put the fire out with gasoline. We also don't "spend our way to prosperity" with public money.
On a smaller scale, if you are having money problems at home....would you give your wife your credit cards and say "Knock yourself out:"??
By the way, the easy and frequency of Obama blaming Bush for all the ills, is making Obama look weak, and like someone who has so little
to offer, with an empty quiver, that he looks weak and foolish.

3. The statement that Big Business is Republican: This is a highly suspect statement. Based on contributions to political parties in the last
election, Fortune 1000 company CEO's and others gave the lions share to Democrats. Wall Street big wigs have been heavy Dem
contributors. Bernie Madoff was very generous in his contributions to Dem. Politicians ( and only Dems)

4. Shipping jobs overseas: You blame Republicans. First, NAFTA was a "Clinton" backed law. Also, the World Market is beyond the
political agenda, since many companies, to remain conpetitive and stay in business have little or no choice but to lower labor costs by
going overseas. I'm sure you will think the motivation is to "keep more money due to greed"..but for many companies, without this ability
to lower costs, the business will in many cases, go "out of business" Establishing protective tariffs to negate overseas labor has
been for the most part, a failure since the backlash hurts us. Conservatives like Pat Buchanan have called for some tariffs, and I'm in
agreement with some level of protection. But this is inflationary in itself, since there is always retaliation in this area from the nations we
have targeted for tariffs. So, saying Big Business is "selling out America" is typically a limited, narrow and Marxist way of looking at
business. Again, the people running these companies are not always Republicans, and a study will show that at least half are Dems.
It is more accurate to say that they are without party loyalty, and seek the favors of whomever is in charge.

5. Republicans and taxes. You assail "trickle down" economics...but it seems Obama espouses "trickle up poverty" . You think that the tax
laws favor the rich. Remember, we have a "Progressive Tax System" where the top 10% pay something like 55% of all the taxes. The
bottom 45% pay NOTHING. When you have a system that is already "slanted" in this manner, any tax cut is bound to benefit those who are'
paying the lions share. That's math!!! How can you give tax breaks to the group at the bottom when they pay nothing at all?

If you can fathom the math, you'll realize that the so called "tax breaks for the rich" are misunderstood. You libs want a progressive system of taxation. You've got it. What I want, Obama would never do, since I think he's hoping for massive failure in the private sector as a way of having the government take over these areas of business. However...If I was in charge, I would Lower the corporate taxes; increase some level of protective tariff selectively to boost American business ; Cut government spending drastically, in a Draconian fashion. ; Kill any kind of Cap and Trade, a total fraud designed so the Gvt. can fleece American companies......and if it becomes law, it will kill off any remaining business.
Kill Obama care due to the 1.2 trillion in costs we can not undertake at this time. All of this will stimulate business, get the unemployed back to work, and lower the need to print more money, thus restoring faith again in the dollar. But Obama's goal is to see how to get the Government to acquire as much control over business,
property and our personal lives as possible. His priorities are so out of order, that thinks like Diversity, and racial issues rank higher on what gets his attention than
these important matters.

That you see almost everything in opposite terms tells me I will never convince you. I can only hope that Congress, despite the current numbers will see some Dems with enough common sense to do what is right, rather than follow a political ideology that will ruin America.

You say that Obama is the cause of this based on some arbitrary forecast of debt that you seem to be pulling out of thin air but OK let�s play along with this. All the things that you mentioned like borrowing money from China, wasteful spending of money that we don't have, had all taken place under Bush. Also, take into account that large companies who are the constituents of the Republicans continue to ship jobs overseas and to raid the coffers as in the case of executive compensation. In addition, inflation is happening not because of what Obama is doing but because of what is happening around the world. America has been and continues to be sold out by big business by shipping American jobs overseas and bringing in huge amounts of imported goods then taking the profits and spreading them amongst a few people at the top while everyone else is left to fend for themselves. The people who run these companies are primarily Republicans. The Republican ideology is give tax breaks to big business and the wealthy and "trickle down" economics will ensue but that is not what is happening and that is not due to the Obama administration putting out a stimulus package. This country was so far in the crapper due to Bush and the Republicans that no matter what anyone does, it will not get better any time soon. Lets look at the alternative and follow your line of thought.

You want Obama to not spend any money, give more tax breaks to the wealthy, give more tax breaks to big business and keep the tax incentives to ship American jobs overseas. The result would be a replay of the great depression. Unemployment would sky rocket at an alarming pace. The wealthy would not invest in the American economy but rather invest in business overseas at an even greater amount and pace than they do now. Gold prices would surge in America because the value of the dollar would crash. So explain to us again why you feel that the alternative is better than what�s happening now?

The woman probably was most likely trying to help but like many people before her, was totally surprised / unprepared with the violence. I had a similar experience with a rental. Out of no where the guy accused me of not wanting me to rent to him anymore and cheating him out of rent money. He really really wanted to fight. It has been reported that 10% of mosques in USA have mullah's that preach violence against Americans.

If this can be proven ( by recording sermons) The mullah should be prosecuted for Incitment to Riot, and any other charges that apply. I bought gold when it was at $890 and ounce. That was about 3 months ago. Today, gold hit $1,118.88 an ounce. Some are calling for gold to hit $2,000, even some to eventually hit $10,000 an ounce. ( Ladies.....better get used to silver jewelry)

Why is this happening? Forget Republican, conservative, etc. Just look at the economics. I believe that the market is flooded with people who have useless degrees, i am in my early thirties , self employed contractor, i am lucky i got thru high school, never went to college, and i see these guys that i went to school with , who spent 4 years , if not more in college, spent a $100,000 of there parents money , and have a degree that means nothing , they are making 25 to 35k , a year !!!! My laborers make more than that , and get layed off for at least 8 weeks in the winter ! I think that that in todays world, a person with a skill/trade, such as a mechanic, carpenter,electrician, or whatever will do better then all the lazy pot head , drunk college kids with degrees, this world lacks people with work ethic and skills

I've done alright in my life without a college degree but I sorely regret not having one. I'm in my late 40's now so I'm probably not ever going to do it but it's one of the major regrets of my life.
It's not only a matter of finances , although that is the main incentive, it's a matter of being well rounded, well spoken and generally more knowledgeable about life.
Especially in the Internet age when spelling an grammar count more than ever.
I own 2 homes, 2 vehicles, various 'toys'. I have 2 children who've never been without what they need. I've never been handed anything and I'm very aware of my blessings but I do feel less than intelligent.
I say, if you have the opportunity to attend college, please try it. An education is something that can't be taken away from you, no matter what else you lose during your life.

I don't know the answer but many in Philly have to know there is a rather big minority of Muslims in the area who probably don't want to leave..All stereotypes are hard to live down. Experience is what matters. I am an electrician so i don't need a college degree to do that. And for not having a college degree being my own boss and making close to 6 figures a year blows that "college is the answer" myth out of the water. I remember the one company i worked for hired a guy that had an electrical engineering degree but out in the field he was slow and didn't know what to do so he was fired.

So you might have book smarts with a degree but lack of experience your in the same boat as a guy without a degree.

To me two types of people go to college the first being the babies that don't want to work and still live with mommy and daddy. How hard is it to go to college living at home with no responsibilities just going to college????!!! And most college kids the parents pay for all the schooling! These kids just want to hide from the harsh reality of hard work and just want to extend the easy life for another 4 years.

But in fact, a college degree is a door opener. Unless you're interested in teaching or research, steer away from a liberal arts or humanities major. If you have a logical mind you might want to consider an IT career. There are some good technical schools that offer solid programs in lieu of college. But the first thing you should do is discern 'what you want to be when you grow up."What interests you ... what could you see yourself doing every day? Some people never figure that out; some people never grow up. Hope this helps.

College is a racket.

It used to be, you needed college if you wanted to be a member of a profession or if you were from a rich family and you needed 'finishing'.

Others didn't need higher education.

Now, however, with the introduction of negroes into our society, college is becoming more and more important because it's used to weed out incompetent people who can't hack four years of work. It is illegal to give IQ tests to prospective employees, but as an employer, you can still ask whether the applicant completed college.

Whereas in the past, you could be a nurse, police officer, office manager, salesperson, etc. after earning a high-school diploma, now you may need a college degree to qualify for the job.

To sum up: employers like their employees to have college degrees because it weeds out the negros, and colleges promote the idea that a degree is a necessity because they get state money to 'educate' students who they know have no chance of actually graduating after 4 years (example: Temple University).

School is off today for the holiday. (To all the vets out there, thank you very much for your service to our country). I'm watching my grandson and he asks if his friend can come over. Sure, no problem. Not only is this child sick, now I find out there's no one home at his house till 5. WTF?
I'm glad it stopped raining cause I sent them out to play.
Question is, did his mom set me up? She's at work when she should be home taking care of her child. If I would have said no to his coming here would she have left him home alone? They're 10 years old.

No, not getting warm. I don't think you're going by what I am writing and maybe there are things others have written of which I am unaware. You have imputed so so much more into my original point - which is that there is zero interaction. Thus, if there's no interaction, how can it be too strong? That's like saying the coffee - that doesn't exist - is too strong. And I don't approach (again, not something I wrote) and I said nothing about in a situation where I am introduced. I am glad you at least realize that you're at least possibly over the top.

My female friends who know me tell me that I am too intimidating looking (not necessarily a compliment) and that is the explanation. I just don't think that answers all the parts of the puzzle. I realize this is almost impossible to figure out via this medium.

Regarding the post. It makes me sad. I'm being bought my 'retribution' or that 'punishment' - that is what you want -to make it seem even in your mind. There is no even right now.

So, let's be more specific so I can avoid being the victim in this house. I'm going to make it clear what I need:

1. I no longer wish to have more contact with your family than you do with mine. The scales are too heavily tipped and I resent it. I really can't believe you left me on Saturday when you had hardly any responsibility at the event, I would not have done that to you. I would have been helpful. But, maybe now, with Thanksgiving coming up, you can see what it's like to have your feelings shoved aside for mine.

2. Couples accomodate one another, it's not a one sided street. If you decide to fufill your needs separately then that just takes energy out of our shared sexuality. I am angry at you about that. It hasn't changed and you aren't working on it from my perspective. You are not in tune with my needs in this arena in terms of desire or frequency. Also, please take all tacky indicators out of general shared view. It's not acceptable.

3. Stop putting it all on me to come up with the 'fun' things and to make decisions. Stop complaining so much. Try to be the light in the room instead of the heavy in the house. If you want fun out of me then be fun yourself. Right now I'm only burdened with your needs all the time.

4. Don't speak to me poorly in public and belittle me in front of others. I work very hard on my public persona at the various things we attend together and the shame that comes with those comments, the inability to put yourself aside to help me, is eventually leading to an undoing. Iraq-Took place right as my unit was rotating out of country and heading home sometime in late 04 or early 05.

The bloody Marine in the center is First Sergeant Kasal. During a battle in Fallujah, one of his Marines lay wounded and pinned down inside of a house as foreign jihadists lobbed grenades and shot at him.
1st Sgt Kasal ran into the house and shot up the joint. In the process he was shot multiple times. Just then, an enemy fighter threw a grenade into the room where Kasal and a wounded junior Marine were located.
1st Sgt Kasal, barely able to move, rolled on top of his subordinate to shield him from the blast. Fortunately, both Marines made it out alive. The Islamo-fascists didn't. Notice even under these circumstances, 1st Sgt Kasal was still practicing safe weapons procedures with his perfect muzzle awareness and his finger straight and off the trigger. Just one of countless acts of true heroism being committed on a daily basis in the name of esprit de corps. Not god, not country. Just plain old guy to my left and guy to my right. Its the only sort of man-love that I can say I'm proud to have been a part of.

It may not matter...The Dems are willing to sacrifice power in the short term in order to get this healthcare takeover finalized. Even if the Republicans take the house next year and gain seats in the senate, it's really only the death rattle if they can't stop Obamacare now. Dems know this and are pulling out all the stops--extorting their own members and even outright bribing those reluctant to commit with millions of dollars for their campaign funds. Those who have sacrificed their seat have already worked out deals to become cabinet officials and highly paid ambassadors. This is how politics works in America now--Power for your side of the aisle, get what you can for yourself....to hell with the voters and everyone else. We are now an autocracy descending into a marxist plutocracy.

Call your local reps and senators and urge them to rethink the current push on Obamacare. Let them know there will be consequences for their betrayal:
