Welcome to the politics forum!
Your post was well thought out and definitely worth reading. I share your views about 90 percent. I will explain my opposite opinions below.
Homosexuality. I really do not believe it is anyone's right to determine what is the definition of marriage. If two people love each other and want to make a life together then they should have the option to marry. What business is it of ours to interfere in someone's expression of love? I still do not know where it is said in the Bible that Homosexuals will go to hell. Allowing them to marry will also reduce permiscuality and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Allowing them to marry will not harm anyone. They do not want to marry us, they want to marry each other. I do not see how that will be taking away from marriage. Marriage is a union between two people who love each other and want to make a life with one another. Telling someone not to be a homosexual is like telling a black person to stop being black. It is virtually impossible. It is also inhumane.
Abortion. I consider myself Pro-Life and will continue to fight for the unborn's right to life. However, I will not judge others who have chosen that path. The only people I will judge, however, are those who chose to engage in the disgusting act of partial birth abortion. There is absolutely NO REASON to engage in such a disgusting act! If a woman does not want to have her child because it is not "perfect" that she does not deserve to be a mother. Gov Palin considered abortion when she found out her youngest was Down Syndrome. It made me lose all respect for her. Well, most of it. I am afraid, however, of back alley abortions. My Nan told me about 3 friends who had back alley abortions. 2 died and 1 could never have children. That scares the hell out of me.
You did not mention your views on the death penalty. After long arguments with myself, I have come to the conclusion that if I am to say I am Pro-Life, I should be for "all walks of life." It would be very hypocritical of me not to be. It is not our duty or right to execute someone. That is what God is for.
War. I hate war. But in order for us to be protected and to remain free, war is a necessary evil. This is not a just world and that is the reason we have war. President Obama's decision to cut millitary is a dangerous one. I think his heart is in the right place, but his head is not in the game.
Thank you again! I hope to read more posts from you.
